I knew this day would come but I’m still shook regardless only because we have become so accustomed to Bolt bringing home the Gold.
But the results are in and it is official Jamaica’s Usain Bolt has been beaten in a major world Track Meet, with his last defeat being handed to him in 2007 by Tyson Gay in the men’s 200m.
On 5 August 2017 in London Bolt lined up to run his final solo race in his career. His last 100 meters, the race of all races. The race ended with USA’s Justin Gatlin taking the win in 9.92, USA’s Christina Coleman ( University of Tennessee) finishing in second with a time of 9.94 and Jamaica’s Usain Bolt finishing in third in a time of 9:95
Gatlin still paid homage to the Bolt by playfully bowing on the track after his win.
Additionally the crowd wasn’t too happy with the win and boos could be heard throughout the statement, this could have been due to the fact that Gatlin received a suspension from the sport a few years ago.
Congratulations to all competitors at the IAAF world championships and a special congrats to Justin Gatlin #BoltDown #USA #USA #USA ??????????.
